Day # 10: Organizing the kitchen

Today we are going into the kitchen.
This past weekend (while I was full of energy from waking up at the crack of dawn to watch the sunrise with hubby) I decided to organize the kitchen!

My counter had become the "catch-all" for everything mail, magazine, borrowed tupperware, my purse :), etc. So I was tired of it. I went to Walmart and bought a few binders & supplies, then I 3-hole punched my planners & recipes and voila!

My favorite part is having all of my e-meals weekly meals all in one place, and my weekly holiday planner that I found on my friend Michelle's blog!

Now you can actually see the counter! Let's hope it stays that way.

How do you stay organized? Any tips you can share?

Day # 9: Doing Dishes

Do you ever feel like all you do is dishes? We don't use our dishwasher, so that's exactly how I feel! As soon as I do a sink full of dishes another cup or something comes out of nowhere :) Before you ask, we don't use the dishwasher because that would never fill and we'd be spending a lot of money on water and electricity :)

Since I started using Shaklee's Dish Wash soap, it's a breeze!
(haha sorry to sound like an infomercial, totally not my intent!)

I just wanted to show you how 2 little drops of soap cleaned a whole sink of dishes!!

How do you do dishes? By hand? Dishwasher?

Day # 8: A Morning Out

Saturday morning, Tyler and I woke up at 6:15am and got ourselves ready, stopped for a bagel (& pumpkin latte) and drove to the beach to enjoy the sunrise! It was really amazing!

This was my first shot as soon as we arrived at Carlin Park (Jupiter, FL), which also happened to be the place we had our wedding reception! Leave it to hubby to pick a romantic spot!

Here are a few shots of the sun rising - I went a bit overboard and this is a small part of the entire photos I took!

I loved this shot of the people fishing! It doesn't even look real!
We even got to take a few pictures of ourselves, this was all I could salvage!

It really was a great morning! I rarely wake up even remotely close to 6am, yet I got SO much more done that day, without even being tired!

Here is the last shot as we were leaving the beach!

When was the last time you saw the sunrise? I'd like to do it more often!

Day # 7: In Home Presentation

Some of you may know, I started my own (home based) business just over a month ago. I am in love with Shaklee, the products & the company! They are the #1 Natural Nutrition company in the US, and the ONLY company to maintain its Climate Neutral status. That means for everything that goes into the environment that is harmful, they offset it with something good - such as planting 5 trees for each Get Clean kit they ship!! How many companies do you know, that does that?
Plus in this business, I have AMAZING team mates, and new found friends!

In order to share my enthusiasm about Shaklee, I have In-Home presentations (parties). Today I'd just like to show you some photos of the last one I had!

This is all the product I received when I signed up!
And this is how I set my table up for my Grand Opening Party!

Take a few minutes and check out the products on my website.

I'd really love to talk to every one of you and answer any questions you may have about Shaklee, the company and products!

Day # 6: Homework Time

Today I want to show you a special time in Our Home, Riley's homework. It is such a joy to watch your children grow and see how much they are learning! Riley used to be really hesitant to read, and always wanted the answers, instead of working for them! I am sure it's not much different in your homes too!

So on Thursday night, while Riley did her math homework with Daddy, I got my camera ready.

She thought I was nuts taking photos of her while she read!

Then, when she was all done, I asked her to do it one more time for the camera!! Which she LOVED!

How are your homework nights?

Day # 5: Healthy Dessert

I know, that may sound contradictory, but I made a healthy dessert! Just ask Pinterest!

All you need is a box of cake mix, I prefer Devil's Food Chocolate, Greek yogurt, plain or vanilla (I prefer vanilla) and 1 cup of water! No more eggs, or oil!!

Trust me, you get the best tasting, moist-est :) cake ever!! Plus it comes out of the pan so clean!

Just be careful! You may not want to share!!

Day # 4: Our Dinner

Last night I made a dinner that we have had many times, and I thought you all might enjoy it as well! I actually found the recipe in a "diet" book, The Carb Lovers Diet. You do not have to be on a diet to enjoy this, and certainly will not feel like you are!

We try and keep the ingredients on hand, so this dinner can be made at any time. Unfortunately, we didn't realize we were out of Parmesan cheese last night!

Here are the ingredients the book calls for:
Pasta with Peas, Ham & Parmesan cheese
4oz. light sour cream
10oz. frozen peas (defrosted)
8oz uncooked whole-wheat pasta
4oz. lean, boneless ham, thinly sliced
1 cup finely grated Parmesan cheese
2 tbspn chopped fresh tarragon
1/2 tspn salt, 1/2 tspn pepper
Prep: 5 minutes
Cook: 15 minutes
Total: 20 minutes
Makes 4 servings

I didn't happen to have any whole-wheat pasta last night, and I use the whole box. Also my ham is an 8oz package of tiny pieces, so I use the whole thing as well. I also leave out the tarragon, and haven't added the salt & pepper :) We missed the cheese, but it was still great without it!
I get dinner & lunch for 2 with this recipe!!

As you can see, even Jax likes to help me make dinner!

While the pasta is cooking on the stove, I mix the peas and sour cream in a small bowl. After draining the pasta and putting it in my large bowl, I fold the peas and sour cream into the pasta, then add the ham. I would also be mixing in the cheese at this point. :)

When everything was ready, I filled 2 bowls and grabbed bread & butter, and Tyler & I sat down to watch this weeks episode of Sons of Anarchy - definitely a house favorite!

Afterwards, I let Tyler take me to Dairy Queen! This was really more for his benefit!! On the way, we jammed out to Britney Spears "(You drive me) Crazy", which was to no one's benefit :)

I really hope you have enjoyed a peek at our dinner (& lunch)!
What is your favorite dinner?

Day # 3 of Our Home: DIY project

As I tried to figure out what to talk about today, I remembered the brand new (to us) sofa we were given a few weeks ago, by a new neighbor, who is so awesome!! We love this sectional sofa, we replaced 2 pretty old white leather couches! Maybe I can find some old photos and show you the difference one day!

The only downer to this new sofa is that, as a sectional in 3 pieces, it was always sliding apart on our wood floors. So last night seemed like a perfect time for a DIY project!

So while we were in Publix, I saw this and thought it would be great to use under the legs of the sofa. I cut them into little squares (more like rectangles :) ) and placed them underneath the legs.

I wish I could have taken photos of this process, however I don't think Tyler would have found it very amusing since he was the one holding the couch up!
The test is on! Let's hope this keeps the couch from sliding around! What do you think?

What was your last DIY project?

Day # 2 of Our Home: Cleaning toys

Today, in Our Home, I am talking about how I clean Riley's Doodle Bear, named Pretty  :)

Tyler and I bought this one for her 6th birthday a few weeks ago, and I've already cleaned it a couple times! She really loves to draw on her bear.
Have you ever read the label on these dolls? When I first read that you need to wash them within 48 hours, I was a little worried. It had now been at least a week that the doll was laying in Riley's room.

So what I decided to do was pre-treat the colored spots with Shaklee's liquid laundry soap, and let it sit for a few hours (about 4). Then I washed it on a small cycle in cold/cold with 1/4oz of the same liquid soap I used to pre-treat and about 2 pinches of Shaklee's Nature Bright (Laundry booster & stain remover, powder).

You can see the color spreads, as it sits with the pre-treat. The first time her whole forehead was blue!

Last night I just air dried Pretty, but the the first time I stuck her in the dryer on low, inside a pillow case (as per the label), but she wouldn't stay in!

Riley is so happy when she has a clean doll to put make-up on again!

31 Days of Our Home (Day 1)

See below for easy access to more recent Days. Thanks for visiting <3

Ever have a REALLY great idea?!

I have just been having such great ideas left and right lately. My biggest challenge has been remembering to write them down and carry them through. I will be doing a 31 Day series of posts about Our Home. How we clean, organize, the crafts we do, and so much more!

You will be seeing all my new projects come through. I will be guest posting for my friend, Sarah, on Saturday, October 6th about a fun positive reinforcement tactic we are implementing with Riley. I will also be having a guest blogger right here on Monday, October 15th! So watch out for that!

We just had a busy weekend. I cleaned a friend's house, as I do most Saturday's because she has rheumatoid arthritis and it is really good to be able to contribute and help her out! I use my own Shaklee products to clean, watch for a post on that in the near future as well! We also went to the beach for a birthday bash and collected rocks and shells!

Share some of your great ideas, completed or still in 'to do' status, in the comments below! I'd love to hear them!
Don't forget to stay tuned for all 31 Days!!

XOXO,
